Why I say "thank you" to Africa

For most of the world's citizens, the expression "in love with Africa" remains somewhat abstract, as the continent seems unstable, poor and unattractive. And yet, like many "foreigners", I am one of those who love Africa.

Perhaps it is because it is the land that saw me born, that I spent my best years there, it is where I grew up, where I learned, it is on this land that are printed my most beautiful memories (the Senegalese tiebou god, the mafé, the Island of Goree, the Grammont neighborhood ...).

But Africa is also the one that allowed me to evolve in an accelerated way in my career (the opportunities that were open to a young architect in Africa were out of all proportion to those that would have been offered to me in France where architects were paid 40 francs per hour). I had a bit of intuition and a lot of luck, but without Africa, I would not have known the path that was mine.

It therefore deserved a prominent place on my blog.
